Hepatocyte ploidy in cats with and without hepatocellular carcinoma

چکیده

Abstract Background Domestic cats rarely develop hepatocellular carcinoma. The reason for the low prevalence is unknown. Reductions in ploidy have been associated with hepatic carcinogenesis. Recent work mice has shown that livers more polyploid hepatocytes are protected against development of Hepatocyte domestic cat not evaluated. We hypothesized would be reduced peri-tumoral and neoplastic compared to normal feline hepatocytes. Using integrated fluorescence microscopy, we quantified spectra carcinoma healthy control tissue from paraffin embedded sections. Results Feline predominantly mononuclear number nuclei per hepatocyte did differ significantly between groups. Normal a greater tetraploid than Conclusions Total polyploidy liver consistent values reported humans, yet cellular (nuclei cell) humans cats. Tetraploid mononuclear.

Hepatocellular carcinoma in a sheep

At necropsy of a five-year-old sheep, a pear shaped, lobular yellow-brownish mass measuring about 12 ×15 × 20 cm was found to involve the right hepatic lobe. Microscopic examination revealed two trabecularand solid patterns of neoplastic hepatocytes. In solid pattern, there were numerous tumoral giant cells thatcontain one or more large hyperchromatic bizarre-shaped nuclei scattered among clust...

An analysis of DNA ploidy pattern of hepatocellular carcinoma.

To determine whether a relationship exists between DNA ploidy and the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), flow cytometric DNA analysis was performed in paraffin-embedded specimens obtained from 44 patients with HCC who underwent hepatectomy. There were 26 diploid (59%) and 18 aneuploid (41%) tumors. No correlation was shown between DNA ploidy pattern and patient age, sex, liver cirrhos...

Hepatocyte-Specific Arid1a Deficiency Initiates Mouse Steatohepatitis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma

ARID1A, encoding a subunit of chromatin remodeling SWI/SNF complexes, has recently been considered as a new type of tumor suppressor gene for its somatic mutations frequently found in various human tumors, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the role and mechanism of inactivated ARID1A mutations in tumorigenesis remain unclear. To investigate the role of ARID1A inactivation in HC...

Status of serum alpha feto-protein (AFP) and midkine (MDK) levels in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is sixth common cancers worldwide and predominant in Asia and Africa. A number of evidence suggests a possible role of midkine (MDK) and α-fetoprotein (AFP) in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Materials and methods: We studied MDK and AFP in patients with HCC or in healthy controls. MDK and AFP was measured by enzyme linked immuno...
